Torres “Thirster”

Release Date: July 30, 2021.

Torres, or Mackenzie Scott, released their new album back in July of 2021 and it did not disappoint. Long-time listeners of Torres’ music will know this album had a different overall vibe from her earlier work. This album was the product of a more mature analysis and expression of what Scott was going through with love, and happiness, and the anxiety around the idea of it all being ripped out from under her. If you like a little alternative punk with a little mix of distorted pop, then this is the album for you. My top song, which may not be considered the banger, was “Big Leap”. She painted such a beautiful picture of what it feels for those of us who tend to be hyper self-aware as we are falling in love, almost so self-aware we are destined for self sabotage. She even mentions the Georgia heat which was a plug for my home state haha. Looking forward to seeing the difference in perspective for Scott’s next album.
